Sudoku Solver

Paste sudoku problem into area below

Just for fun, here’s a tool that you can use to solve sudoku puzzles in no time at all.

Simply enter the puzzle directly into the grid by using the arrow keys to move around between cells. Alternatively, you can paste puzzles from the clipboard. Just click the link below the grid and paste the puzzle in the space that appears. It will attempt to figure out which parts of the puzzle are which, so don’t worry too much about extra spaces. For example, try pasting in one of the Minimum Sudoku puzzles* published by Gordon Royle at the University of Western Australia.

Please get in touch if you have any comments or suggestions regarding this tool.

* Gordon Royle’s page has vanished, but fortunately is still available at the Internet Archive.

About this tool

This tool is based on a sudoku solver written in C by Bill DuPree. Thanks also to Tim Eyre for help with earlier versions.
