I specialize in technical translations, but will consider texts in any field. Although I normally only translate from Japanese into English, small jobs like business cards are no problem.

I can produce print-ready PDF layouts of any kind, including restaurant menus and martial arts certificates. (Note: I have stopped using Adobe software, but can still handle most jobs.)

Business Cards

I can translate business cards into Japanese. For best results, send me your existing layout as a PDF file and I will translate your details in situ.

So far this section only contains my dictionary of English names in Japanese. I hope to have more dictionaries available here soon.

This is where I post examples of the work I've been doing, and information that you might find useful if you’re a translator or interested in translation.

I can be contacted through this website, or by various other means. This page has all the details.

About me

Philip Ronan

I’ve been working as a freelance Japanese–English translator since 1996. Previously I obtained a degree in engineering from Cambridge University (1986–89), and I passed the Level 1 Japanese Language Proficiency Test (日本語能力試験) in 1994 after spending a few years living and working in Japan.

My main areas of specialization are IT, engineering and telecommunications.
